Go Organic

By Dr. Maoshing Ni, LifeScript Natural Health Specialist

What you can’t see can still hurt you. So, go organic whenever possible to ensure that your food is free of pesticides and chemicals. But when organic isn’t possible, give your food a bath. The pesticides and chemical residues on the surface of your produce can be washed off with appropriate methods. Soak veggies and fruits in a large pot of cold water for five minutes, add a tablespoon of sea salt and a tablespoon of vinegar, then rinse under running water in a colander for several minutes. You can also mix a small amount of dishwashing liquid with water to clean produce; just make sure you rinse well. For fragile produce that shouldn’t be scrubbed, simply soak it in salt and vinegar for 5 minutes and rinse thoroughly.

Live long, strong and happy,
